This dish sounds fancy, but is really simple to make, and packs in oodles of flavour. I stole it from my mum who discovered it while she was trolling the internet for new and interesting recipes.

It goes great with either rice or with garlic bread.


Chicken: 1 kilo

Onions – 2 medium, sliced thin

Garlic: 1 tsp, chopped fine

Chicken stock: 1 cup

Salt: To taste

Pepper: To taste

Oranges: 1, sliced round

Fresh squeezed orange juice – 1 cup

Fresh squeezed lemon juice – juice of 2 lemons

Oil: 1 tbsp


Saute the onion and garlic in the oil.

Add the chicken and saute till the chicken, sealing in the juices.

Add the cup of chicken stock.

Add the orange and lemon juice.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Stir well and bring to a boil.

Simmer till the chicken is done.

You can leave the gravy brothy or cook for a little longer for a slightly thicker consistency.

When done, garnish with the orange rounds.

Serve hot, adding a fresh orange round to each helping 🙂
